Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born on April 9, 1990, in Los Angeles, California. She got to a film bussines thanks to her parents. Her father - John Stewart - is stage manager, producer and director and mother Jules is a scriptwriter. Her firs movie role was on the Disney Channel TV movie "The Thirteen Year" in the age of nine. Two years later, Stewart landed a more substantial in the independent film "The Safety of Objects". But her first BIG role... like really BIG... come one year later when she was cast as the lead in the blockbuster drama, "Panic Room", starring with Jodie Foster, Forest Whitaker and Jared Leto. Her role as the diabetic, troubled teen caught the attention of critics, who praised her understated and solid performance. Personally I can say, that she was awesome. Her big career started thanks to this movie.
After that, she was cast to another suspense drama - "Cold Creek Manor" (2003) - where she played the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone. Then she followed up with two more low-performing films in the next year. The light-hearted teen film, "Catch That Kid", and the adventure film "Undertow". Another important role in her career came in year 2005. It was her performance in the Showtime special feature, "Speak" about a girl called Melinda, who stops speaking after a sexual assault. In the same year she appeared in the sci-fi film "Zathura", followed by the drama "Fierce People". After several roles she landed a the role of a teenage commune dweller in the crticially acclaimed biopic "Into the Wild". The role brought Stewart back to the spotlight, and that same year she landed in Mary Stuart Masterson's "The Cake Eaters" where she plays a girl with Friedreich's ataxia, a genetic disease that causes progressive damage to the nervous system resulting in clumsy movements, speech problems heading to heart disease. That was really impressive performance.
The year 2008 was a big one for Stewart, who starred across Robert De Niro in the Hollywood satire "What Just Happened?". Then came her role in the film version of the successful Stephenie Meyerbook series - The Twilight Saga. No one expected such a huge success. The novels, about a teen who falls in love with a charming vampire, already had a legion of fans. After role of Bella Swan in Twilight, she became more popular and the romantic icon for thousands of teens, launching her to A-List actor status. She has got behind a lot of really interesting roles. She appeared in many independent dramas like "Welcome to the Rileys" next to James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo or "The Yellow Handkerchief". Stewart was cast to play the younger version of Joan Jett in the 2010 biopic "The Runaways", while she continues to work on the remaining installments of the "Twilight saga". Another important role in her career was in role of Snow White in a version of the fairytale, called Snow White and the Huntsman next to Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. She also took part in an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's book - On the Road, where she played Marylou. After the premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman, she came through a horrible time because of her affair with Snow White and the Huntsman's director - Rupert Sanders. After this, she was chased by paparazzi and journalists even more than ever before. Another huge blow in her life was death of her co-star and friend from "Welcome to the Rileys".
